French Lentil is a dog of many talents and many names.

On January 5th, 2019, a miracle occurred in Rainbow, California. A very short puppy with a very large head was born. His breeder at Distinctive French Bulldogs named him Yellow for his distinctive gold coloring. However, he did not come to that name when called.

When Sissy G. adopted him in 2020, she named him Forrest. But he did not come when called. Informally, he became The Dog-Who-Knew-No-Name.

This was not a basic comprehension issue. Nor could it be chalked up to the stubbornness. This dog who had no name clearly did not want one. Sure, we tried all sorts of variations. Mr. Frosty. Frosty Paws. Le Big Boy. Boo Boo. Hey you, there!

But the dog responded to only one master. His own gluttony.

One fated day, Auntie brought home a bag of vegan lentil chips. They weren’t particularly tasty, and one “accidentally” toppled to the ground. The Dog-Who-Knew-No-Name leapt through the air, pouncing on the chip with such vigor that the whole house shook.

He broke the chip into pieces, sending lentils scattering across the cold tile floor. Though Auntie had promised herself she would not get mad at things like this, she blurted out:

“Ah, French! Look at all these Lentils!”

The Dog-Who-Knew-No-Name looked up at her in surprise.

And then, it came to her. French Lentil! His new name. And now, the rest is history.

When treats are on the table and fridge doors are opened, French Lentil is at your service. Which is why he makes such a fantastic dog influencer, model, actor, comedian, and secret agent. He’s highly food motivated and extremely handsome — a perfect combination for a rising social media star.

Today, he splits time between Texas and California, snuggling, snacking, strolling, and generally loafing around. He can be found beside the nearest refrigerator — or lounging in a sunny spot outside.
